Second Day of our

Family Cruise to Alaska

I couldn’t put into words the excitement and anticipation. Especially when I looked out at the ship that would take us on an unforgettable cruise to Alaska. The sight of it from our hotel room was breathtaking, and I couldn’t wait to get on board and set sail.

After a delicious breakfast, we set out with our luggage, praying that it would fit into the two Prius taxis. By some stroke of luck, we managed to pack it all in. Riding to the port to board the ship for our cruise to Alaska in a Prius made us all laugh.

The ship, “Ovation of the Seas,” was massive, and it isn’t even Royal Caribbean International’s largest ship.

Security Measures

The boarding process was similar to that of an airport. Similarities include a thorough security check (empty pockets and remove all metal objects before going through metal detectors). We also needed two forms of identification: a passport and another type of identification. At the time of our sailing, we had to provide a negative COVID test, proof of vaccination.

We had purchased a dining and drink package, and Dawn quickly set up our restaurant reservations while I went in search of drink cups. The Windjammer on Deck 14 was our first stop for lunch, and the endless buffet spread was a feast for the senses. After lunch, we were delighted to find our rooms ready and our checked bags waiting in the hallway.

Getting Situated

The evening was spent getting settled, savoring dinner in the main dining area, and watching from our balcony as we set sail on our cruise to Alaska.

The excitement was palpable as we set out on this journey, and I couldn’t wait to experience all that Alaska had to offer. Join us on this unforgettable adventure and discover the magic of Alaska!
