This Roadside Attraction
The city of Goodland, Kansas, is home to the impressive World’s Largest Easel.
I have a lot of experience visiting the state of Colorado. Whenever I go there, I usually take the I-70 highway, which is the most common route. During my last trip, we made sure to pause and visit a gigantic roadside attraction. Looking at it from the interstate doesn’t give it the proper credit it deserves. When you get up close, you realize that it’s even bigger than it seems from the highway.
Are you excited to visit the World’s Largest Easel? It can be found in Goodland, Kansas, just a short distance north of I-70 near Old US Highway 24.
The World’s Largest Easel was built in 2001. On top of this enormous easel, there is a huge replica of Vincent van Gogh’s “3 Sunflowers In A Vase,” measuring 24 by 32 feet. The remarkable easel stands at an impressive height of 80 feet and weighs an astonishing 40,000 pounds.
Currently, there are only three of these paintings and easels in the entire world. The goal of the project is to create giant easels in seven different countries across the globe, each displaying one of Vincent van Gogh’s seven sunflower paintings.
