The town of Walcott, Iowa, is home to the World’s Largest Truckstop.

I have been fortunate enough to visit this place several times, including our most recent stop on the way back from Chicago to Kansas City. As expected, the World’s Largest Truckstop was as impressive as ever. My wife, Dawn, and our infant son, Benson, enjoyed the all-you-can-eat buffet, while I made sure to savor every bite, particularly the delicious chicken wings. Even though I ended up a little messy, it was a sign of a truly satisfying meal that I proudly wore.

Brief History of the Location

Prepare yourself for an incredible adventure if you’re considering a visit to the World’s Largest Truckstop! This massive truckstop is located at exit 284 and just north of I-80. It’s situated on the eastern side of Iowa, approximately 25 miles away from the border of Iowa and Illinois.

You will find this one-of-a-kind place neighboring the charming town of Walcott. Back in 1964, the Iowa 80 Truckstop made its home here. Over time, it has become the World’s Largest Truckstop, and continues to welcome countless drivers. Many view it as a home away from home, and it attracts travelers from all around. Some describe it as a small city, while others compare it to a Trucker’s Disneyland. But everyone agrees that it’s a destination that should not be missed.

At the Iowa 80 Truckstop, you’ll find a wide range of amenities and attractions to explore. The truckstop has eight different restaurants to choose from, a convenience store, a gift shop, and a Super Truck Showroom. You will also find a barber shop, chiropractor, dentist, movie theater, workout room, and laundry facilities for personal needs. And of course, there are the gas stations, a diesel fuel center, a truck service center, and a Truckomat truck wash to keep your rig clean. For personal hygiene, there are 24 private showers and even a Dogomat pet wash. There’s something for everyone and more!
