Embarkation Day Begins

From our hotel window, I see our massive cruise ship waiting at the port. The moment has finally arrived. After months of planning, we are leaving Seattle for Alaska, and I can’t wait to get on board.

Heading to the Cruise Port

After a delicious breakfast, we gather our luggage and head outside. The challenge? Fitting everything into two Prius taxis! Somehow, we manage to pack it all in. Even now, I still wonder how we did it!

The ride to the Seattle cruise port feels surreal. We are finally leaving Seattle for Alaska, a trip we have dreamed about for so long.

As we arrive, I take in the sight of our ship towering above us. The sheer size is overwhelming, and it’s not even Royal Caribbean’s largest vessel.

The Boarding Process

Boarding feels similar to an airport experience. First, we go through security screening, metal detectors, and passport checks. At the time of our sailing, we also need to provide a negative test and proof of vaccination.

The process moves smoothly, and before long, we are officially on board!

Getting Settled on the Ship

Since we purchased a dining and drink package, Dawn quickly books our restaurant reservations, while I track down our drink package cups.

Our first stop for lunch is The Windjammer on Deck 14. The endless buffet offers more choices than we can possibly try in one meal!

Looking down at the dock, I notice a group of people still standing with their luggage. I don’t know their story or why they haven’t boarded, but soon, the ship pulls away from Seattle.

After lunch, we head to our stateroom. Our checked bags are already waiting in the hallway, a huge relief. Stepping onto our balcony, I take a deep breath of fresh ocean air.

Sailing Away to Alaska

As the ship moves forward, we watch the Seattle skyline disappear. The evening is spent unpacking, enjoying dinner in the main dining room, and relaxing.

Excitement fills the air. We are officially leaving Seattle for Alaska!

The Adventure Begins

This journey has only just begun, and I can’t wait to experience everything Alaska has to offer. From glaciers to wildlife and scenic landscapes, this will be an unforgettable trip!
